Hi polished people! Today I’d like to share with you the contents of my September Julep Maven Box and my thoughts on this month’s selections. I was excited to update my polish colors for Fall and this box suited my Fall fancy quite nicely.
For those of you unfamiliar with Julep, they offer access to their latest nail polish and beauty products via a monthly subscription box, the Maven Program, which offers the following options:
- the My Maven Box for $24.99 per month or $19.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $40+ worth of product and is fully customizable), or
- the Maven Luxe Box for $39.99 per month or $34.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $60+ worth of product and is fully customizable).
The September 2014 Maven offering is called The Art Walk Collection and features nine new nail polish colors along with four new Julep Plush Pout Lip Crayons.
I opted for the Classic With a Twist Box this month and selected 3 add-ons, so I also received 2 free polishes. Julep runs a special every month where if you select 3 or more add-ons for your box you receive a free mystery gift (this month it was 2 additional polishes). So when all was said and done I received 7 polishes total for September.
The Classic With a Twist Box included the following 2 polishes:
Lupita ($11.20 for Mavens / $14.00 full retail) is described as a ripe rhubarb crème and is a gorgeous deep red that is great for Fall. It’s a classy shade that is great for all occasions.
Quinn ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a charcoal purple satin and has a beautiful sultry vibe. I found this color alluring when the Maven window opened and knew I had to get my hands on it.
I also decided to add 3 additional polishes to my Maven Box:
Lola ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a moonlit night blue satin and lends a dreamy twilight sheen to your nails. The satin formula provides excellent coverage and goes on nice and smooth.
Fifi ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a tea time pink crème and is a pretty light pink polish. The description says this one is a crème formulation, but in the bottle it looks like more of a sheer frost.
Ana ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a white jagged glitter top coat (or spray paint top coat) and is quite edgy and eye-catching. This is another of September’s polishes that I was dying to try.
As mentioned earlier, I also received two free mystery polishes in my September My Maven Box. They are:
Candace ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a golden chocolate microglitter and is a dazzling topper for Fall. This polish will be on repeat for my nail art and accent nails in the coming months.
Daria ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a dark slate grey crème and is the perfect mid-tone, neutral grey.

The Classic With a Twist Box for September also included Julep’s new Plush Pout Lip Crayon ($16.00 / $16.00) in Cardinal Red. This gorgeous lip shade is described as a full-coverage lip crayon with a moisturizing treatment core in the middle. I’ve already worn this lip color several times and I must say I’m in love! It is indeed highly moisturizing and lasts a long time (about 5 hours for me) for a moisturizing lipstick. This one is a winner!
For this month’s My Maven Nail Art Design I decided to go for a fun pattern: quatrefoil. Per Wikipedia, the word quatrefoil means “four leaves and applies to general four-lobed shapes in various contexts.” The pattern was done using two different-sized dotting tools along with the Julep polishes Lupita and Quinn. Monthly Maven Summary
In summary, my September Julep Maven Box contained items with a total value of $94.40 (Maven pricing) or $114 (regular retail). I paid $38.97 for the box, so I received a $75.03 discount by being a Maven! Wowza!
