Hi polished friends! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. Today I would like to show you the Princess Aurora manicure I recently did for my daughter. We had a mother-daughter date last weekend and decided to head to the movie theater to see Maleficent, the story of Sleeping Beauty from the viewpoint of it’s villainess antagonist (who is, according to the movie, not really a villainess). The actual villain happens to be the human king that rips the pixie wings right off of Maleficent’s back! The movie was quite captivating! In fact, I loved the movie so much that I decided to create this Aurora manicure that same evening:
For this manicure I used the following:
- Polishes: Essie Muchi Muchi and Big Spender and OPI My Signature is “DC”
- Born Pretty Store Small Diamond Rhinestones (item number 14307)
- Born Pretty Store 3D Rhinestone Bow (item number 11973)
- Small Nail Art Striping Brush
- Kiss Precision Nail Glue
On my pinky and index fingernails I started with an opaque base of Essie Muchi Muchi. I then used OPI My Signature is “DC” to freehand a silver chevron tip. Next I added the dark pink edge to the chevron using my nail art striping brush and Essie Big Spender. Finally, I used the smallest dab of nail glue to adhere the tiny pink diamond rhinestones to the nail plate in the appropriate place. I followed these same steps for creating the design on my ring fingernail, except I used Big Spender as the base and Muchi Muchi as the chevron accent color.
Now for the crowning glory: that ginormous 3D Rhinestone Bow! I recently received this beauty for review from Born Pretty Store and was surprised by its sparkle power and its size! Initially I wasn’t sure how I would incorporate this 3D treasure into a nail design, but once I had the idea of doing Princess Aurora nails the bow fit in perfectly.
For the middle fingernail I started with a base of OPI My Signature is “DC” and freehanded small triangles on top and bottom with Essie Muchi Muchi and Big Spender. I swiped the design with topcoat and let it dry completely. I then used a large dot of nail glue to adhere the 3D Rhinestone Bow to the nail plate and voilà, I had Princess Aurora nails!
The Rhinestone Bow really adds a royal touch to this manicure, although it was much too big for my everyday activities and lifestyle. It would be the perfect nail accessory to use for a special occasion such as a wedding or costume party!

What do you think of this manicure? My daughter simply adored it and walked around the house for days singing songs from Sleeping Beauty! The movie Maleficent blew me away and ignited my creative juices. Stay tuned for nail art designs based on the characters of Maleficient and the 3 Pixies that care for Princess Aurora! 😉
Thanks for stopping by!
