Next up is the OPI New Orleans Collection for Spring/Summer 2016. Since I’m cajun (from Houma, Louisiana) and partial to all things French, I knew I had to get my paws on these polishes the minute I heard they were inspired by NOLA.
The collection features 12 new polishes inspired by the unique spirit, cuisine and joie de vivre found in world-famous New Orleans. Crèmes and shimmers dominate this vibrant lineup you won’t soon forget! Swatch photos of each polish plus individual reviews can be found below.
Spare Me a French Quarter?
First up is Spare Me a French Quarter?, a lovely raspberry crème. The swatch below is 2 coats with top coat. The polish applied like butter, even and smooth. I’ve also included a nail art design pic using this polish, which reminds me of the Prince song Raspberry Beret. 🙂
She’s a Bad Muffuletta!
Next up is She’s a Bad Muffuletta!, a sizzling coral red crème. Pictured here is 2 coats with top coat. This baby is a head-turner for sure and worthy of everyone’s nails!
Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya
Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya is a creamy peach with a subtle hint of spice. The formula on this one was slightly streaky and required 3 coats to reach full opacity. I don’t love applying 3 coats but I do love the end result!
Crawfishin’ for a Compliment
Crawfishin’ for a Compliment is a creamy peach that had the worst formula of the bunch. It was streaky and required plenty of patience to get even coverage in 3 coats. If you like oranges it’s pretty, but the formula on this one was a deal-breaker for me.
Take a Right on Bourbon
Take a Right on Bourbon is a unique metallic pewter with a hint of rosiness. This one’s entirely representative of The Big Easy and its jazziness, I simply can’t get past the streaky quality of metallics in general. Pictured here is 3 coats with top coat.
Rich Girls & Po-Boys
Hello Lover! Rich Girls & Po-Boys is one of my favs of this collection! Such a beautiful, china blue crème begs to be seen! Pictured here is 2 thin coats with top coat.
Show Us Your Tips!
Show Us Your Tips! has me over the moon with lust! This gorgeous periwinkle shimmer is stunning. The formula was on the thin side (3 coats for full opacity), but who cares when your hard work yields this amazing color!
I’m Sooo Swamped!
No New Orleans Collection would be complete without a bright, lush green. I’m Sooo Swamped! holds this torch brilliantly. Pictured here is 2 thin coats with top coat.
Let Me Bayou a Drink
Let Me Bayou a Drink is a blush pink polish with a hidden, subtle shimmer (i.e., only visible in direct light). This is a pretty option if you’re looking for a barely there, classic look. Pictured below is 2 coats with top coat.
Suzi Nails New Orleans
Suzi Nails New Orleans is a head-turning hot pink crème polish. This one was also a bit tricky to apply evenly, but at least 2 coats got me to full opacity!
Humid-Tea is a refreshing nude shimmer that is a nice neutral nail option. The formula was also streaky on this one but it evened out in 2-3 coats.
I Manicure For Beads
I saved one of the best for last! 🙂 I Manicure For Beads is a luscious purple crème that applies like a dream. The formula evens out beautifully in 2 thin coats.
Here’s the collection in all of its swatch glory!
Which polishes from the OPI New Orleans Collection are your favorites? For me the darker crèmes from the line are really where it’s at: they have great, highly pigmented formulas that apply like a dream. Plus that shimmery periwinkle that is Show Us Your Tips! I’ll show that polish anything! 😉
