Hi polished friends! Today I’d like to share with you the contents of my October Julep Maven Box. This is one sparkling and spooky collection with tons of interesting finishes reminiscent of twilight fun. I can’t wait to share my selections with you! 🙂
For those of you unfamiliar with Julep, they offer access to their latest nail polish and beauty products via a monthly subscription box, the Maven Program, which offers the following options:
- the My Maven Box for $24.99 per month or $19.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $40+ worth of product and is fully customizable), or
- the Maven Luxe Box for $39.99 per month or $34.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $60+ worth of product and is fully customizable).
The October 2014 Maven offering is called The Black Magic Collection and features nine new nail polish colors along with Julep’s new Night Shift Sleeping Mask and two new Julep Lip Gloss shades (Polished and Splendid).
I opted for the Customizable My Maven Box this month along with 4 add-ons, so I also received 2 free polishes. Julep runs a special every month where if you select 3 or more add-ons for your box you receive a free mystery gift (this month it was 2 additional polishes). So when all was said and done I received 6 polishes total for October.
The two polishes I selected for the Customizable My Maven Box were:
Margarita ($11.20 for Mavens / $14.00 full retail) is described as a palace purple crème and is absolutely gorgeous. The shade is a deep dark purple that doesn’t lean black at full opacity. The formula is perfection as most Julep crèmes are: glides on nicely and reaches full opacity in two thin coats or one thick coat. Love.
Dana ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a white polish with electric blue sheen that is blacklight reflective. This is one of the polishes in this month’s offering that I was dying to get my hands on! I can’t wait to show you how this baby looked under the backlight (head over to the Nail Art section of this post below to see for yourself!).
The two polishes I selected as add-ons were:
Ledi ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a black pearl shimmer and is absolutely lovely on the nail. It’s a nice sophisticated black that would look great on the nails for a night out on the town.
Tia ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a copper and gold glitter black jelly. I tested Tia out over the weekend and preferred to layer it over an opaque black base since this makes the glitter really pop. If you’re into jellies then this polish is definitely a must-have for Halloween.
The two free mystery polishes I received for selecting three or more add-ons were:
Tatiana ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a golden burnt orange microglitter and is also a must-have Halloween shade. This polish was a dupe for me so I will be gifting it to one of my lovely nail mail buddies! 🙂
Catrina ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a marigold yellow crème and is a great Fall yellow, not too light but still nice and bright.
Nail Decals (2)
My add-ons (4 total) included two of the polishes listed above (Ledi and Tia) along with two packages of nail decals.
White Chevron Nail Decals ($2.99) are great as nail stickers or aids for tape manis. I actually used these for my Julep Maven Nail Art design this month and they worked great.
Black Cats Nail Decals ($2.99) are absolutely adorable and perfect for Halloween. Too bad these were missing from my Maven Box. I’ve notified Julep Customer Service and they are resending them to me asap, so hopefully they will get to me before the holiday.
Beauty Products (1)
The last item I selected as part of my Customizable My Maven Box was one of the new Julep Lip Gloss shades:
Julep Lip Gloss in Polished ($16.00 / $20.00) is described as a sheer cameo pink that delivers unstoppable shine and luscious hydration. I have two other shades of Julep Lip Gloss and they are amazing! They have actually become my new favorites, replacing my previous go-to lip gloss.
I saved the best for last!!! Halloween nail art using some of the goodies I received in this month’s Maven Box …
And here is the lovely Dana in all of her glory under a blacklight:
Monthly Maven Summary
In summary, my October Julep Maven Box contained items with a total value of $89.18 (Maven pricing) or $109.98 (regular retail). I paid $41.96 for the box, so I received a $68.02 discount by being a Maven!
