Hi dolls! Please excuse me for my brief hiatus from nail art and blogging. My whole family got the flu over Thanksgiving and holiday preparation madness has fully kicked in, plus my father-in-law moved in with us and his health is failing so it’s been an incredibly taxing end of the year. At any rate, I’ve missed you all and hope you’re having a happy holiday season! I’d like to get back in the swing of things by showing you what I received in my November Julep Maven Box ~ later is better than never, right?!
November Maven Offering
The November 2014 Maven offering is called The Friendsgiving Collection and features nine new nail polish colors along with two new mascara products (Go Big Volumizing Mascara and Length Matters Wow-Impact Mascara) and three new Gel Eye Gliders (Regal Teal Shimmer, Graphite Shimmer and Bronze Shimmer).
I opted for the It Girl Maven Box this month along with 3 add-ons, so I also received 2 free polishes. If you select 3 or more add-ons in one month, Julep also includes a free mystery gift in your Maven Box (this month it was 2 additional polishes). So with the 3 polishes included in the It Girl Box, the polish I selected as an add-on, and the 2 free polishes for selecting 3 add-ons, I received 6 polishes total for November. Whew and Yahoo!
The November It Girl Box included the following 3 polishes:
Marzia ($11.20 for Mavens / $14.00 full retail) is described as a pewter chrome and is a nice metallic polish for the holidays. This would be a great accent nail color as well, particularly when paired with a bold crème polish.
Ilsa ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as an ink blue crème and is a dark navy blue that borders on black. I’m hoping to wear this matte coming up soon, maybe with some white polka dots.
Kiki ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as an oceanic silver shimmer and is a stunning blue polish reminiscent of holiday snow and icicles. This one was a must-have for me; I recently rewatched Titanic with my hubby and being the sentimental person that I am I felt called to have this polish in my Maven Box! 🙂
I selected one polish as an add-on this month:
Scarlett ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a vibrant red micro-glitter metallic and it dazzles! This gorgeous polish is the perfect shimmery red for the holidays. Get in my arsenal!
Last but not least, I present to you the 2 free polishes I received this month for selecting 3 add-ons (I also received a free Plié Wand Overcap, pictured in the first photo below on the right):
Eden ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a bright violet crème and is looks very pretty in the bottle but the consistency seems way too watery. I’m afraid the formula in my bottle of Eden is defective; it definitely isn’t crème and looks like it would take at least 4 coats to reach full opacity. At least this one was free!
Nadia ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a sun-kissed golden frost. I’m not sure I would ever have selected this polish for myself, but I will likely get use out of it in the spring and summer months in some cute sunshine nail art.
Beauty Products (2)
In addition to the lovely Scarlett above, I also added on two of the new Julep Gel Eye Gliders. I cannot rave enough about these eyeliners! Application is super smooth and endurance is all damn day. Needless to say, any time Julep has a Gel Eye Glider option in their Maven Box I’m all over it. I selected some fun shades for the upcoming holidays:
Instead of nail art this month I decided to swatch my favorite color from my Maven Box. I simply had to go with that dazzling red, Scarlett, which is so very perfect for the holidays. This is two thin coats of Scarlett topped with HK Girl Glisten & Glow Fast Drying Topcoat.
Monthly Maven Summary
In summary, my November Julep Maven Box contained items with a total value of $92.80 (Maven pricing) or $116 (regular retail). I paid $63.95 for the box, so I received a $52.05 discount by being a Maven!
