Hello darlings! I recently finished my manicure using the contents of the May Nail Art Society Kit, so today I’d like to share the finished product with you.
If you aren’t familiar with the Nail Art Society, they offer a new way to try the latest nail art trends via their monthly subscription box. For $11.95 per month plus shipping and handling, they curate and deliver to your door the latest tools, polishes and nail accessories for you to recreate current nail trends at home.
The theme for May’s kit was Something Blue and contained the following:
- Jessica Cosmetics Custom Nail Colour in Surfer Boyz n’ Berry
- Several nail art accessories including two 3D bows, two silver midi rings and a bonus silver charm
- The Crème Shop Silver Nail Wraps
- Nail Scissors
- Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pen in White (fine tip)
Here is the manicure I created with these products:
I absolutely adore the clean lines and chic colors of this manicure, which reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and immediately makes me sing Moon River!
Before adding the polish to my nails for this manicure, I used the nail scissors to cut the nail wraps in the shape I desired. I also made sure to attach them to nail tweezers before my fingernails were wet so application would be easy and wouldn’t smudge my base.
For the base, I used Essie Blanc on the index and ring fingernails and Jessica Surfer Boyz n’ Berry on the pinky, middle and thumb fingernails. Once these coats were completely dry, I added the striping tape to my index and ring fingernails and topped them off with Surfer Boyz n’ Berry. I immediately removed the striping tape, cleaned up my cuticles, applied topcoat and then added the nail wraps and bows to the appropriate fingernails.
To see these steps in action, I have a special treat for you: my very first nail art video tutorial!!! Press play and enjoy!
I used topcoat to adhere the 3D bows to my fingernails for this manicure, however I suggest using nail glue if you want the manicure to last longer. Since I paint my nails every day endurance is not necessary so topcoat makes sense for me, but might not be a great option if endurance is your goal. Also, instead of using the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen, I opted to use striping tape. My hand is not steady enough to make super straight stripes with a nail art pen, and since I adore clean, straight lines I used my trusty old striping tape.
I love the gorgeous accessories in this month’s kit, and I’m really excited about having learned a new way to use nail wraps! In the past my experience with applying nail wraps has been frustrating, but that was when I was applying the wraps to cover the entire nail plate. I love how cutting the wraps makes for a beautiful accent nail and the shapes are easier to apply and don’t bubble or wrinkle. Winning!
The total value of this Nail Art Society Kit is estimated at $30, so I obtained these goodies at a significant discount ($11.95 plus shipping) and you can do the same in the future by signing up here! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! 🙂
Thanks a million for stopping by!
