Happy Sunday Polished People! Today I’d like to share with you the Matte Stained Glass Nails I did recently for the Matte prompt of @Californails July Nail Art Challenge. I love the edginess of this design and can’t wait to share it with you.
For this manicure I used the following supplies:
- Base Coat, Top Coat and Matte Top Coat
- Essie Peach Dacquiri, Essie Licorice and Julep Zelda
- Nail Art Detailing and Striping Brushes
For the pinky and index fingernails, I painted half of the nail plate with Peach Dacquiri and the other half with Essie Licorice. I then used the nail art striping brush to add a gold stripe down the center of the nail with Julep Zelda.
For the stained glass nails, I used Essie Licorice and a nail art striping brush to add random triangles covering the entire nail plate. I then used a nail art detailing brush to fill in several of the triangles with Julep Zelda and Essie Peach Dacquiri. The video below shows these steps in action:
Finally, I added Essie’s Matte About You Top Coat to the stained glass nails and the the Peach Dacquiri half of the index and ring fingernails. Unfortunately my camera couldn’t quite capture the matte effect in all of its glory, but trust me when I say that the matte topping really added a fabulous touch to this design.
What do you think of this design? Have you tried stained glass nails yet? I’d love to know your thoughts so don’t hesitate to leave a comment below!
