Hi Everyone! Today I would like to share with you the contents of my July Julep Maven Box and my thoughts on this month’s selections. I tried to pick polishes that would pair well for some summer nail art designs.
For those of you unfamiliar with Julep, they offer access to their latest nail polish and beauty products via a monthly subscription box, the Maven Program, which offers the following options:
- the My Maven Box for $24.99 per month or $19.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $40+ worth of product and is fully customizable), or
- the Maven Luxe Box for $39.99 per month or $34.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $60+ worth of product and is fully customizable).
The July 2014 Maven offering is called The Poolside Collection and features nine new nail polish colors along with Bare Body Milk hydrating body lotion and Bare Body Polish invigorating scrub. I opted for the Customizable My Maven Box along with some add-ons this month, which included the following:
Lissa ($11.20 for Mavens / $14.00 full retail) is described as a tumbled turquoise creme and is part of Julep’s Bombshell Style Profile. I’m not sure what the term “tumbled” is supposed to convey, but I’m a sucker for all things remotely teal and knew I had to get my hands on this polish! Plus Julep creme lacquers are typically one-coaters which always makes life easier. 😉
Vicki ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a pink flamingo creme and is part of Julep’s Classic With a Twist Style Profile. I selected this darling pink shade since it complemented Lissa so nicely (see the nail art design near the end of this post)!
Braiden ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a graphite stardust (textured matte glitter) and is part of Julep’s It Girl Style Profile. I have several of Julep’s Stardust polishes and they are stunning, so I decided to add this beauty to my arsenal as well.
I selected 3 add-ons (the maximum) this month, so Julep included a nice surprise of 2 additional (and free!) polishes in my Maven Box:
Ocatavia ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a smoky indigo creme and is part of Julep’s Classic With a Twist Style Profile. This is actually a duplicate for me, but Octavia is one of my favorite dark purple polishes and I plan on gifting it to one of my nail mail buddies very soon. Spread the love, right!?
Soraphine ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a classic sheer white creme and is part of Julep’s Classic With a Twist Style Profile. Soraphine is a happy addition to my arsenal, as most of my sheer polishes are beige or pink. I can see this polish being gorgeous as the base for a French Manicure.

Since I live in an arid climate (Colorado), I also opted to include Julep’s new hydrating body lotion in my Maven Box this month.
Bare Body Milk ($19.20 / $24.00) is described as “an ultra hydrating body lotion for thirsty skin. The lightweight, fast-absorbing formula leaves a soft, silky finish that’s not heavy or greasy.” The Beach Tonic fragrance of this lotion is yummy and so far my skin can’t get enough of this stuff!
As mentioned earlier in this post, I opted for the maximum number of add-ons this month (3). They included Julep Braiden (detailed above) and:
Julep’s Color Fan ($6.40 / $8.00) includes “twenty-two nail spoons in a convenient fan to swatch your collection.” I opted to add 2 of these bad boys to my Maven Box this month. Since my polish collection has seriously multiplied over the last year, I’m really looking forward to making color wheels with my favorite polishes.
As a new feature of my Julep Maven review posts, I’m planning on completing a nail art design with my Maven box polishes each month. This month I decided to apply beach towel stripes to my nails in accordance with the Poolside Collection theme:
For this manicure I created the stripes using Nail Vinyls and the negative space flowers by using two different-sized nail-art dotters. This is such an adorable look for sitting poolside and for summer in general! Be sure to check out my Instagram page for a video tutorial on how I added the flowers for this design.
Monthly Maven Summary
In summary, my July Julep Maven Box contained items with a total value of $81.60 (Maven pricing) or $102.00 (regular retail). I paid $32.97 for the box, so I received a $69.03 discount by being a Maven.
