Happy Sunday lovelies! Today I’d like to share with you swatches of the stardust finish polishes I received in my February Julep Maven box: Cameron and Glam Roc. First up is the beautiful Cameron!
Cameron is described as a silver lilac stardust (matte glitter) and is the real beauty of these two polishes. The stardust finish is comparable to the finish of the OPI Liquid Sand polishes. It dries to a slightly rough, sandpaper feel without topcoat.
Cameron is a striking polish that applies with ease. It is a combination of super tiny microglitter interspersed with larger glitter pieces that provide beautiful dimension and added texture.
Two coats of Cameron were required to reach full opacity. No topcoat is necessary unless you want to up the sparkle power of this gorgeous polish.
Julep Glam Roc
Next up is Glam Roc, which is part of Julep’s It Girl Style Profile and was curated and named by Jay-Z’s RocNation. Here she is in her bottle and dollop glory:
Glam Roc is described as a midnight purple and gold stardust (matte glitter) polish. I really thought I was going to love this polish when I first laid eyes on it, but I was quite disappointed with it once I applied it to my nails.
Compared to Cameron, I found that Glam Roc was a bit dull and lacked the sparkle power conveyed by the bottle’s appearance. I felt like this polish really needed some help, so I decided to add a topcoat to it, something I normally don’t do with textured polishes. Here’s how it looks with topcoat:
As you can see, the topcoat helped give Glam Roc a much-needed sparkle boost, although I still feel like this polish falls a bit short on its own. Luckily, I was able to use it in a textured polish gradient manicure recently and it really looked marvelous!
So there you have them, Cameron and Glam Roc in all of their glory! Even though I was disappointed with Glam Roc, I received 10 polishes in my February Maven Box and only 2 were disappointing. Plus Glam Roc wasn’t a total dud since it’s already come in handy for some nail art and looked gorgeous!
