Hello polished friends! Since I’m a Julep fan and I recently received their January Maven box, I’d like to start the blog off by providing a review of the program and this month’s box of goodies.
The Julep Maven program is a monthly beauty box subscription that costs $19.99 per box. Upon joining you fill out a questionnaire that determines which of their five style profiles is recommended for your particular tastes (you can read more about each style profile here). Basically each style profile contains a different mix of polish and beauty products from their current collection.
What I love about the Julep Maven program is there are no big surprises or unwanted items. On the 20th of every month the Maven selection window opens; between the 20th and the 24th you get to select which style profile you’d like for that box. You can change styles for the month in one easy click, or skip the month or ship your box to a friend if you so desire. Shipping is always free and you can cancel at any time. You also have the opportunity to select additional items for your box at a significantly reduced price, and there is always some sort of small surprise as well. Overall I’m a huge fan of the Julep Maven program, can you tell?!
Box Content and Review
For the January Maven box I chose the It Girl style (which always contains 3 polishes) and I also selected several add-ons (extra swatch-me stickers, a cuticle pusher and the Essential Cuticle Oil). Here’s a photo of the box’s contents:
I was a little disappointed that two of the 3 add-ons I selected were back-ordered (the swatch-me stickers and the cuticle pusher), but Julep Customer Service did a great job of keeping me informed of this hiccup. They also made up for it by including the cute orange buffing blocks as a surprise! And boy am I glad that the Essential Cuticle Oil wasn’t backordered! It has seriously helped my cuticles stay moisturized in this bitter winter dryness, and I love how it’s a rollerball so if I throw it in my purse there’s no concern about it spilling and ruining things.
Here’s another photo of the polishes along with swatches of each:
Annemarie is a warm cocoa creme polish that provided full coverage in one coat. I always love it when a polish is quick and easy to apply. That said, this polish is my least favorite of the three ~ the color just doesn’t do it for me. I probably wouldn’t do a full set of nails with this, but it might come in handy for a nail art project in the future.
Hope is a stark white satin polish that also offered full coverage in one coat. Once dry it provides a smooth soft sheen, topcoat optional (I skipped topcoat for the swatch below). Super snowy and great for winter manis.
Farrah is a gorgeous lilac silk that offered full coverage in two coats. This one is by far my favorite of the three! It’s super elegant and girly, and is also topcoat optional. A little secret: I swatched Farrah and skipped the topcoat. The finish was so silky that I couldn’t stop rubbing my fingernails all day!
