Hi Everyone! Today I would like to share with you the contents of my August Julep Maven Box and thoughts on this month’s selections. The collection for August was full of vibrant, shimmery jewel tones and glitters and was inspired by the rich colors in Bollywood films.
For those of you unfamiliar with Julep, they offer access to their latest nail polish and beauty products via a monthly subscription box, the Maven Program, which offers the following options:
- the My Maven Box for $24.99 per month or $19.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $40+ worth of product and is fully customizable), or
- the Maven Luxe Box for $39.99 per month or $34.99 per month with a 3-month prepaid subscription (contains $60+ worth of product and is fully customizable).
The August 2014 Maven offering is called The Wanderlust Collection and features nine new nail polish colors along with new Gel Eye Gliders and the Sweep Eyeshadow Palette in Neutrals.
I opted for the Bombshell Maven Box this month which contained the following:
Tazeen ($11.20 for Mavens / $14.00 full retail) is described as a full-coverage Bollywood gold glitter and is as glamourous as glitters come. I plan on using this polish for accent nails and tape manis, one of which is at the end of this post!
Neha ($11.20 / $14.00) is described as a sari magenta shimmer and has a lovely multidimensional formula with a rich, sultry magenta color. This polish would work great for a pedicure.
And here’s a lovely macro shot of the gorgeous Tazeen:

Gel Eye Glider in Smoky Plum ($12.80 / $16.00) is described as “an easy-to-use eye pencil that delivers the creamy formula and intense color payoff of a gel eyeliner.” The formula is waterproof, sets in 30 seconds and lasts for at least 10 hours. I absolutely love the deep plum color of this liner, and the texture and pigmentation are great.
As mentioned in last month’s Julep Maven post, going forward I’m planning on completing a nail art design with my Maven box polishes each month. This month I opted to do a classy oblique chevron design based on the lovely manicures of Hillary Kozuch (check out here work here):
I applied this design freehand and used an angled concealer brush to clean up the lines. Super simple and the end result is gorg!
Monthly Maven Summary
In summary, my August Julep Maven Box contained items with a total value of $35.20 (Maven pricing) or $44.00 (regular retail). I paid $24.99 for the box, so I received a $19.00 discount by being a Maven.
